The Body’s Grace

This song responds to several stations of the cross, most particularly Simon of Cyrene carrying the cross, as well as Jesus falling, and Christ nailed to the cross. These stations are woven into a sung Eucharistic devotion, reflecting on the physicality of Christ, and of the worshipper’s response to him. Simon of Cyrene is imagined as an exemplar of our (fallible) human worship. The title is taken from Rowan Williams’s essay of the same name: cause for further reflection upon the infusion of material being with divine grace.
