Aira Force Remembered

This is a painting that I finished just before lockdown, from a visit to the Lake District last summer. It is one of a new series that examines how landscape and the natural world and our relationship to it are now the heart of some of the most critical issues for our future. The paintings exist and function in the growing gap between what we see and what we know, reflecting how the landscape can be framed within collective experience, shaped by the history of painting.
