This Thing Called Life

The lockdown has emphasized for me the way in which political and private space fold into each other. It also brings to the surface what Georges Perec termed the Infra-ordinaire: the parts of life that go unnoticed; the remainder when all habitual signification is stripped away; the being of living bodies within the world. In response this audio work configures fragments from Mrs Dalloway. Virginia Woolf’s writing has been important to me for some time; her holistic philosophy of entanglement and movement that is concerned with the here and now, feels spot on as the epidemic brings into sharp focus our ecological entanglement.
