Along the yellow road

This piece features Google Earth images of Öland, an island off the south east coast of Sweden, where I spent many summers growing up. It holds an immense sense of longing for me. In this piece I have collaged together shards of text from Tove Jansson’s Summer Book, read by family members, as I revisit my own fragmented past in this virtual trip down memory lane from a heightened digital perspective. I am interested in questioning the realities of recollection, which weaves together visual elements that seem crystal clear yet are surrounded by mutable shadows, breakages and gaps.
